BEARS Wheelchair Basketball Club in Stratford has been awarded almost £9,000 to run a series of wheelchair basketball taster sessions for disabled young people.

The National Lottery grant will fund sessions offering a chance for participants to meet other young people and enjoy a new activity.

Head Coach Tom Masterson said: “This is very welcome news and will make a real difference to local children and young people with disabilities.

“Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to raise awareness of this fun and fantastic sport, with the aim of developing their skills, helping them to meet others and build their confidence and self-esteem. We can’t wait to show people how exciting disability sport can be.”
