Bears 3 returned to winning ways when they took the victory in a hard fought game against Leicester Cobras 2.  With the Bears falling behind until the final minutes, the Bears had to scrap out a hard fought win.

The first quarter was a close affair with the defensive intensity matched by both teams. The scores were kept low for both teams, ending the quarter Cobras 2 10 – 6 Bears 3.

The second quarter was again a tight affair with no team able to establish dominance, a touch offensive line allowed the visitors the slightest of leads at half time with the scores settling at Cobras 2 24 – 21 Bears 3.

The second half began with Bears 3 displaying a renewed determination Ito gain the lead and add some momentum. However, an equally determined Cobras team hit back against any Bears attempt to pull level, with the Cobras holding the slightest of leads Cobras 2 33 – 31  Bears 3, making for a tense final quarter..

The final quarter saw Bears 3 take control of the game with added pressure on the Cobras attack and a hard fought advantage at the Cobras basket.  With only one minute on the clock, Bears 3 were able to go 6 points in the lead and virtually seal the win. In the last few seconds, Cobras came with a late charge narrow the score only slightly, bringing the final score to: Cobras 2: 46 – 49 Bears 3.

After the game Coach Dan Smith said  “ A rocky start to the game saw Bears 3 trailing up to the half time period. With a few minor tweaks and changes brought them back into contention and ultimately taking the lead. With everyone digging deep till the final buzzer we came away with the win. Really pleased with the 2nd half performance and look to build on it for next week’s game against Stoke.
