The Bears suffered their second defeat of the season playing C.W.B.A in the reverse fixture from last week. After suffering a big loss the previous week, the Bears were more determined to perform better and return to the form that gave them promotion last season against the Division 1 favorites.

From the tip off C.W.B.A began where they left off from last week, dominating the game going into an early lead controlling both ends of the court and limiting the Bears whilst running up a commanding lead of C.W.B.A 14 –  4 Bears at the end of the first quarter.

The Bears came out into the second quarter with a strong defence,  however this was still not good enough to haul back any of the earlier lead that C.W.B.A had built.  but was still able to stay within distance of the home team and give themselves a chance in the second half of the game to try make a comeback with C.W.B.A going into the half time break still with a comfortable lead of 27 – 15 Bears.

The third quarter was a close game with both teams defence being the main stay of the game. The Bears once again were not being able to make any in roads into the lead that the C.W.B.A had built in the first half. The teams going into the last quarter with the scores C.W.B.A 32 – 19 Bears.

The last quarter was a thrilling end to the game with the Bears making a huge effort to try and get back into the game and storming towards only a 5 point difference in the last two minutes.  With the clock against them the Bears were forced into trying to stop the clock which put them into team foul trouble and gave C.W.B.A the opportunity to pull back some of their earlier lead and finish the game with the scores C.W.B.A 37 – 29 Bears.

After the game coach Masterson said “ Again I’d like to congratulate C.W.B.A on a great win, but I was more happy with our performance today and we did learn lessons from last week’s game and were a different team today.  I don’t think we will face a team that good for the rest of the season and they are definitely the league favorites but we will get better and hopefully next time we meet we will give them a harder game again”.

The Bears 2 were once again in ruthless mode in the earlier fixture against C.W.B.A 3.  With a strong team to pick from, the Bears were dominant against a plucky C.W.B.A 3 who were made up from a number of the C.W.B.A junior ranks but played a determined game but couldn’t make any in roads to a strong Bears 2 defence, whilst the Bears were able to take advantage of the height superiority at the other end and run out comfortable winners C.W.B.A 3 15 – 51 Bears 2.

Coach Masterson said after the game “The Bears 2  were on form today and I’m really happy with the performance they put in today.  I’d like to congratulate the C.W.B.A 3 team and coaching staff.  They have a great team with so much potential. ”
