The Bears 2.took their winning streak for the season to 10 games when they won against a determined spirited Worcester Wolves team, who were determined to end the Bears unbeaten run. With the Bears missing their forward Rick Powell who was at the Invictus game trials, this was going to be a tough challenge.
From the tip off the Wolves came out on top, going into an early lead hitting some early scores, with the Bears not being able to respond quickly and going behind. As the quarter developed, the Bears began to find the basket and were able to pull back the score to go into the break with the scores Worcester Wolves 12 – 12 Bears 2.
The Bears 2 defence began to take more affect in the second quarter and allowed the Bears to go into a slight lead in the quarter, with the Bears breaking down the Wolves’ pressing game and taking the lead at the end of the first half with the scores being Worcester Wolves 20 – 29 Bears 2.
The third quarter was again decisive in favor of the Bears and their strong defense as they limited the Wolves to only six points for the quarter, whilst doubling that score and adding to their lead to go into the last quarter with the scores Worcester Wolves 26 – 41 Bears 2..
With the clock against them the Wolves game out fighting in the last quarter trying to claw back the score, but the Bears 2 were a match for their intensity and were able to see out the game with the scores Worcester Wolves 33 – 47 Bears 2.
Coach Masterson said after the game “Really proud of the team today, as I knew this would be a hard-fought game from a talented Wolves team. With one of our strong forwards, Rick Powell, missing due to Invictus trials this weekend, I knew this would be a tough challenge for the team, but we still had our MVP from today’s game, Dan Gill playing and then going down to the trials after the game.”
