BWB Women’s League Round 3
Bears WBC: 17
Blackhawks WBC: 63
The Bears WBC first game was a tough prospect, after losing to Blackhawks by a considerable margin the last time the teams met in February. From the tip off the Bears looked disjointed and nervous and the Blackhawks took full advantaged to run up a dominating lead in the first quarter. Making the most of the chances available to them, Bears’ Sharleen Honey and Ellan Fraser emerged as leading scorers. Blackhawks kept a strong hold on their impenetrable defence, and piled on the points on offence to take an easy victory.
Bears WBC: 29
Titans WBC 2: 27
In the second game of the day, the Bears WBC regrouped following the earlier defeat and were determined to demonstrate the improvements they had made this season. The game appeared close from the first whistle, with both teams scoring basket for basket and no team being able to pull away from the other. The scores changed hands throughout the game leaving the last minutes to become a nail-biting finish. With the scores level going into the last minute of the game, the Bears were able to score and go into the lead with seconds left on the clock and clinch the victory.
After the game Coach Robinson said “In the opening game our girls faced an exceptionally well drilled team made up of players who have played at a good level. Upon regrouping after the game the girls came out firing against London titans and executed superbly. Great to finish the season with a win and plenty to take forward into the off season and work towards next season. Overall I couldn’t be happier with the girls effort this weekend.”
