‘Attitude is Everything’ Corporate Day with McCann Central
To all those who are familiar with the Bears and what we do, it is well-known that we all share a collective passion for the community outreach and development work that is such a huge part of our culture. The Bears take part in a number of great community activities, working with other charities, local and larger private businesses and with schools to deliver fun and interactive educational experiences. As part of this outreach programme, The Bears also host corporate days. These individually curated events focus on the principles of education through teamwork. Whether a client wants to focus on education around disability, or on more general values of resilience, teamwork and personal growth, we are delighted to partner with such fantastic businesses to help facilitate fun and meaningful development days.
As part of this programme, The Bears’ had the pleasure of hosting a positive, educational and immensely fun corporate development event with McCann Central. McCann Central, a global advertising firm with offices most locally in Solihull, brought a fantastic team that consisted of their national senior leadership team to take part in our ‘Attitude is Everything’ Corporate Event.
We worked with the team at McCann Central in the weeks running up to our event to curate a session in line with their development objectives. In particular, we aimed to support their own development programme, ‘Front and Centre’, which was launched on the day. Close correspondence between our senior management team and the planning team at McCann Central facilitated a collaborative and well rounded event, which delivered on the their development objectives in a fun and memorable way.
For McCann Central, the day included fun sessions focused on basic chair skills and teamwork exercises, broken up by 3 keynote talks from; McCann Central COO John Sanders, Dreams Head of Merchandising and Bears’ player David Jameson and Ex-Paralympic Skier and Bears’ player Anna Turney. Our guests were encouraged to try new things and get out of their comfort zone, whilst mingling with and training alongside a number of our Bears 1 and Bears 2 players.
Over lunch, guests had the opportunity to reflect on all that they had learnt in the morning, and to chat with the Bears’ Team to learn more about the sport. We put together a fabulous lunch spread (even if we do say so ourselves!) and ensured that everyone returned to the afternoon sessions refuelled and raring to go! Our afternoon sessions drew on the chair skills mastered earlier on in the day, stepping up the intensity to meet more challenging team exercises before taking on a final game.
Reflections on the day were hugely positive, with our guests having enjoyed the talks and relished the opportunity to get stuck in on the court. Here more about how COO John Sanders found the day in our interview!
